Thinking of Others

Thanks to Jenn posting her 30 days of Thanks blog, we are starting a family 30 days of thanks starting tonight. I think we are going to write what we are thankful for on hand cut outs and put them on the wall. I am excited to start tonight.
Lat night I had my visiting teachers come over, and boy did I need them! The month after General Conference, the teacher giving the lesson gets to pick one of the talks from conference to give the lesson on. Alemeda picked the talk President Eyring gave. "The joys come from putting the welfare of others above your own. That is what love is. And the sorrow comes primarily from selfishness, which is the absence of love." I really needed to hear that last night. I have been selfish lately, thinking about the holidays and getting upset because Rex has to work Christmas day, and others having the day off. As well as getting upset because Rex has late meetings and has not been home a lot the past week; but after hearing the lesson, I realized that we are a strong family. We can make it through the times that we do not see him much, and other families may not have that, and they may need their family together on those days more than we do. I felt very uplifted and much better after my teachers left. I am very grateful for them.
