Valentine's Day Fun

The tradition continues! I am getting out of my grumpy phase, and embracing Valentine's Day and all it's mushy gushy glory.

Since the boys are not in public school this year, I thought we would have some fun and make treats and presents for people we know and love.

What would we do without Pinterst? We made book marks out of paint samples.

Hershey Kisses made out of rice crispy treats! It was fun to make.

Again, Pinterst idea here. We painted hands and feet and made Rex a Valentine's Day present.

Then the boys wrote down reasons they loved their daddy.

Trenton- He plays with me
He is nice to me
He puts up with me
He gets money for the family

Joe- He is kind
He makes good food
He buys us games
He plays with us
He loves us

Ben- He plays with us
He has fun with me
He likes me
He loves me
He lets me have soda

Oh, they made me laugh so hard! What great kidos! We had a good time making painty messes and making some fun treats! Happy Valentine's Day!!

A Change of Heart

AS I have loudly and obnoxiously subtly expressed in prior years, I do not care for Valentine's day too much. But, this year, I thought if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. It is Joe's favorites holiday and they love the excitement of the holiday. So I celebrated a bit this year. I got Rex some body spray and chocolates.
So the day started out with Rex bringing home a nice surprise for me.

Breaking Dawn on Blu Ray, A single rose, and candy hearts. I admit, I melted a bit.

Then I made the boys breakfast.

Hear shaped pancakes and heart shaped bacon.

After Trenton got to school and the other two got out of the bathtub and finished their chores I set out my treats I made last night.

Yes, I made something I saw on Pinterst. Score one for me!
Before Joe went to school, I made a quick lunch. Joe requested something festive.

So, I made PB&J heart sandwiches, pretzel x's and orange o's. I was proud of myself.

When the older two were off to school, I got to work on their gifts. I made them goody bags and took them to the school and had them delivered to their class room.

I left Ben's on the front porch after I got him in the van, so when we got back from the school he had a bag at the door. They had candy, chocolates, a stuffed dog and suckers. They were pretty happy.

Any who, we are having a nice ham dinner tonight with homemade mashed potatoes, gravy, summer salad, rolls and peas. It has proven to be a fun day.

Pulling Me Into Valentines Day

So, as most of you know, I detest Valentine's Day. Mushy gushy --- pukey pink and white every where. Yuck. I know, I know.. it is suppose to be that way, but I just can't handle it.And I know... I just made my Blog all pink and white......I am trying.
This year, Rex is bound and determined to get me in the mushy gushy pukey mood. I awoke this morning to a beautiful bouquet of  mixed flowers ( I am also not a "roses" kind of girl) They are beautiful! Rex thinks that we should celebrate Valentine's Day this year... for some reason or another. He said the flowers were just a test run of big things to come. Does this mean I need to start planning??  I have to say a nice big box of chocolate caraemls sound SO good right now. Sorry Jolyne... I could eat a whole box at this point. Maybe he can special order some sugar free fat free AMAZING tasting ones from a magician.
Here are some pics of my flowers.
