Our family went over today, bringing me to tears. They were the happiest most loving family you could ever meet. We did not need anything and tried to give them money just to help, but the refused us, unless we took something they were selling. The wife had a beautiful Thomas Kinkade original, framed, glaze proofed.. the works , she had bought it for $900.00 and would take whatever we had to offer. Their whole lives were in the garage.. all but the children things which they marked as sacred ground. They collected lighthouses all through out the house and had all of them displayed and for sale at any asking price. We could not bring ourselves to buy anything but still wanted to help. Finally after taking the money from us, finally... the husband came out with a very nice table saw and insisted that we take it, he could not just take our money, we really needed to take something in exchange.
A family in hard times (we have so been there) trying to make it by, struggling through day by day, but happy and heads held high. I gave them our number and told them to call in case they needed anything else. I was so humbled by them and re mined of how unimportant things are and how important family and life is.
We are planning on making them a gift basket and tracking them down. I am still in awe of them.

Good for you. You're still the angel I met all those years ago in junior high.
