June 25th, 2013

Today was absolutely amazing.

I went to our Stake trek today. It was nothing short of spiritually amazing. The youth are split into families. They have a Ma and Pa, and about 6-8 youth in the families. They had to load up their hand carts ( as pictured above) and push or pull them to their campsite. At the base of a hill, the youth were told that the priesthood holders were needed, but it was up to the youth whether or not they would send them. All of the families chose to have them leave, so it was left up to the women to pull and push the hand carts up to the top of the hill. Since they chose to obey and do what was right, they got help from Heavenly Father. I got to be one of the helpers. We were not allowed to talk, but only allowed to help push and pull the carts. It was so emotional. The girls were so tired, and trying so hard. They were so grateful for our help and were crying with joy to have people they knew helping them during a very hard time. One of the girls in our ward was very grateful and gave me the biggest hug once they reached the top. I was happy to be a part of such a spiritual experience. It is scary to think that when the next Trek comes around, Trenton will be going. I hope I  will be able to help again.
